Rapper DMX is set to spend the next six months in Erie County after being sentenced to serve time in the Erie County Holding Center.
44 year old Earl Simmons better known by his MC name, DMX, which stands for Dark Man X, is once again locked up this time in Erie County Holding Center where he was placed on Tuesday. Erie County Sheriff’s Deputies say a court turned Simmons over to them to serve time for a family court ruling.
The ruling stemmed from Simmons’ failure to comply with a previous order. Simmons has had a history of crime in Erie County, including over child support and traffic violations.
Back in 2000, DMX was arrested in Cheektowaga for speeding, no license, and marijuana possession.
Family Court Judge Deanne Trippi handed down the sentence for the rapper. DMX became the first artist EVER to have two records debut at #1 on the Billboard charts back in 1998. It has been a long career often filled with arrests and run-ins with the law.
