T.I.’s been courting a large amount of controversy over the past couple of weeks. First, he left longtime label Atlantic Records and is working independent, then he spouted about how the Loch Ness Monster has more of a chance at winning the presidency than a woman does (ugh). Now, he may be hitting a hard right turn on listeners with the direction of some of his new music.
In an exclusive interview with MTV, Tip revealed that he’s working on a trilogy of albums that will take some twists and turns. “Paperwork was the artsy blend of musical tones [incorporating] soulful R&B — a Blueprint–ish approach to an album. Da’ Nic and The Dime Trap [will be] unadulterated trap music and [the third album] will be my version of 808s and Heartbreak.”
The Dime Trap is up next, but is Tip about to get personal on this trilogy closer? Should we expect autotune overload? Will there be a song on this record that’s better than “Coldest Winter”? Is this a love letter to Tiny? Only time will tell.
