Case Against The Weeknd For Punching A Cop Officially Dropped

weeknd

The criminal case against The Weeknd has officially been dropped after the singer punched a cop in January of 2015.

The incident occurred in the early morning at a Las Vegas Hotel last year. Law enforcement had showed up to the scene and reportedly pulled the “Often” singer into an elevator, where he is said to have punched one of the law enforcement in the back of their head.

A L.A. judge dismissed the case at a hearing on April 21st this year since the singer had completed the numerous tasks he had previously been set in court.

In October, The Weeknd pled no contest to battery charges and managed to avoid jail time, however he had to complete numerous tasks including completing anger management, an alcohol evaluation, 50 hours of community service and to pay $1,000 reparations to the District Attorney’s Victim Witness Centre: Injured Police Fund.

The Weeknd managed to complete all of this and performed his community service at the Armenian Relief Society in Canada. The court decided to review his case in February to see if it was possible for it to be closed early.
