A man found dead on a Brooklyn beach Monday wearing “cement shoes” was a high-ranking member of the G Stone Crips crew affiliated with rapper Bobby Shmurda, according to police sources.
Peter Martinez, 28, from Brooklyn was found wrapped in plastic bags with duct tape on his face and 100 pounds of cement covering his feet on Manhattan Beach on May 2, sources said.
Investigators think Martinez’s murderers put his feet in a bucket and then poured the cement in. But they “botched” the job because air got in, causing him to float to the surface of the water, officials said Tuesday.
The purported gang member had been arrested before for reckless endangerment, weapons possession and filling a false instrument. Martinez had also suffered a gunshot wound to his leg from a previous incident, sources said.
There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing, according to the NYPD.
