It’s been an exceptionally quiet year for Method Man, on the music front. After releasing his album The Meth Lab in 2015, he has not dropped a single record this year. In fact, save for a guest appearance on Havoc’s “Buck 50’s & Bullet Wounds,” Meth has not even been on a verse this year. Today (9/30), however, that all changes with the release of “Bulletproof Love,” a song created in conjunction with the new Netflix series, Luke Cage, by its music composers, Adrian Younge and A Tribe Called Quest’s Ali Shaheed Muhammad.
It’s not altogether surprising that Meth would provide music for the project. In August, during an interview with Ali, he spoke about how inspired he was by the “Luke Cage” character, saying “Brothers like me been waitin’ for this since I was eight years old. Now, it’s here and I’m ecstatic.” Earlier in the week, a new trailer for the series also surfaced, revealing that Method Man has a cameo, as himself, in an episode.
